Description
Most hole cutters do the cutting fine, then leave you poking the plug out of a tiny tube. These work like a syringe instead. Press the cutter through your clay and the plug pushes the plunger up as it cuts. Lift it out, press the thumb pad, and the plug drops right out the end.
HOW IT WORKS
Each cutter has a thin, sharp tube with the bevel on the inside, so the hole comes out exactly the size of the tube with a clean edge. The plunger is built in and can’t fall out either end, so there are no loose parts to lose. When the thumb pad is down, the plunger sits flush with the cutting edge and the cutter is clear for the next hole.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Seven Sizes
1/4″, 5/16″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″, and 1″, each labeled on its thumb pad. Sizes are the cut size in wet clay. Your fired holes will be smaller by your clay’s shrinkage, so a 1/2″ cutter in a 12% clay gives a hole just over 7/16″ after firing.
A Stand to Keep Them Sharp
Both stands hold the whole set cutting edges down, hanging by their flanges so the edges never touch anything, with every size labeled. The lite stand is a light, open rack. The deluxe box is a solid stand with a lid that covers the set, so it stays clean and dust-free between sessions.
Made in Our Studio
Each cutter is 3D printed by us and checked before it ships.
TIPS
- Cut at soft leather-hard for the cleanest holes
- Give the cutter a slight twist as you press to cut through thicker slabs
- Rinse the barrel if clay builds up inside, then work the plunger a few times
CARE
- Rinse with water and let air dry
- Keep away from high heat: no dishwasher, kiln, or hot car
- For clay use only. Not intended for food.
I made these because I was tired of fishing clay plugs out of my cutters, and I hope they make your next pierced piece a lot more fun.
